Q. What if I am happy to share a room but there is no-one for me to share with?

Below are the questions we receive most often about each of our tour. If your question is not answered here please drop us a line at info@velocitybiketours.com.au and we’ll get back to you quickly.

About the Tour Itself provides answers about being on the holiday, riding your bike each day and anything that relates to the daily itinerary.

What type of bikes are generally used?
Road Bikes, though if you are confident you are able to cover the distance each day and manage comfortably you are more than welcome to bring another type of bike.

Will Velocity Bike Tours provide me with a bike?
As we cover fairly long distances with a good amount of climbing involved, we choose not to provide a bike rental service. In our humble opinion it is far better to bring your own trusty steed along ensuring you are at your most comfortable in the saddle.

When I arrive will Velocity Bike Tours assemble my bike for me?
Indeed. Our professional Bike Mechanic will be on hand to help assemble your bike, to pack it securely during our car transfers and in readiness for your final departure.

What bits and pieces will I need for my bike?
It is always a good idea to bring along spare tubes and other such items. We will not always be close to a bike shop though when we are we will make sure you are given the opportunity to replenish your supplies. You will be provided with a list of ‘recommended items’ prior to departure.

Should I bring my own ride food?
With so many food intolerances now coming to light we think it best to bring along your own preferred power bar or whatever type of ride food works best for you. We make regular trips to local supermarkets giving you the opportunity to purchase fresh fruit and cakes.

What level of fitness do I need?
We cover reasonably lengthy distances each day (approximately 80km average per day). This could mean a daily ride of anywhere from 65km to 125km over a two week period. A reasonable level of fitness is required though there is no pressure on you to race up the mountains aiming for a daily PB! For those residing in Sydney we provide organised training rides eadch Sunday from March onward. For those outside of Sydney, we provide you with a recommended training guide (see below).

I have no idea how to start training for this holiday! Help!
We offer training plans and programmes at the Turbo Studio to help you prepare your legs for this trip. Price and details can be found on our Booking Form or by contacting us directly.

What kind of on-road support will there be?
A team car remains with the group at all times on every single ride.

Am I able to get in the car if I feel too tired to finish a ride?
Absolutely! Don't be shy!

What if I have a mechanical problem on the road? I'm not a Bike Mechanic!
Turbo Studio’s Professional Bike Mechanic will be along on the tour and on hand to help change your flats, pop your chain back on and assist in any way needed whilst out on the road.

What if I get left behind?
We don't leave anybody behind. The group remains together until we reach the climb where you are then free to go at your own pace. Whether you wish to tear up the mountain hoping to be discovered by HTC Columbia on the way up or wish to make one or two stops to take photo's, it is entirely up to you. Though once at the top we re-group once more to journey back to the hotel as one.

I can see the distances we ride each day, can I see a detailed profile of the daily rides and a more intensive breakdown of our itinerary?
This information is contained within your 'Tour Guide' which outlines everything you need to know about the tour you have booked. This will be given to you approximately one month prior to your departure or once your final payment has been received.

What kind of gearing should I have on my bike?
Turbo Studio has it’s very own Bike Service Centre so drop us a line and we’ll pass you on to our professional Bike Mechanic who will assist.

Will you pack my bike for me?
We can certainly assist you in packing your bike in readiness for transport for a small fee. For those residing in Sydney our Professional Bike Mechanic at Turbo Studio can come to your home and pack your bike. He is also available to assist with any specific bike questions your have prior to your departure.

My partner doesn't ride. Can they come?
We have many non-cycling partners coming along with us each year. This is where the ‘Walk’ comes into it. ‘Walk the Mountain’ for non-cycling partners allows them to partake in some daily exercise and feel as much a part of the team as you do. We also schedule afternoon activities for those with energy left over though you are not obliged to join in if snoozing under the tree seems more appealing!

Why don't you include meals in your tour?
Simply because there may be times when you wish to do your own thing and for you to have paid for every dinner would then have been a waste of your own money. When dinner is not included we will simply take a list of names of people that wish to eat together and organise a table at a local restaurant for a reasonable rate. Payment of the dinner is simply divided between the group.

I love the pics you took of me on holiday! Can I buy them?
No - they are our gift to you - no charge.
